Born November 1960 in Wolverhampton (United Kingdom). Permanent resident in Spain since 1984. Read an honours degree in Management Studies and Spanish at the University of Leeds (U.K), graduating in 1984. After graduation, she went into EFL teaching in Cantabria, before going in management. In 1995 she become an undergraduate lecturer, later specialising in Corporate Culture and International Corporate Strategy in a private university college in Santander. She subsequently went on to become Local Course Leader, before being appointed National Academic Director as the college expanded to found centres in other cities in Spain.
In 2000-2001, she took a sabbatical year to read a distance-learning MBA under the University of Lincoln (U.K.) to update her earlier training and degree, which was obtained with distinction in January 2002.
Since 2002 she has been working in free-lance translation with direct clients and prestigious translation agencies in Spain and overseas, broaching subjects broadly related to her qualifications and her experience in management and teaching, as well as other general-interest topics.
In 2009 she founded a company in Spain with her husband in order to begin a new economic activity - breeding Huacaya alpacas in the southern valleys of the Cantabrian highlands, which she successfully combines with select translation projects.
Over her career, Alison has participated in seminars and workshops in languages, linguistics and business-related subjects, being a speaker in a number of local and international congresses. More recently, her training has focused almost exclusively on alpaca handling, management and husbandry.
